FAQs
Each system includes tutorials and a manual to empower you to set up and run the system on your own. If you wish additional support we are pleased to offer you a customized service.
For our self-learning and self-tuning system it is sufficent, only to know which machine type should be operated and which angle sensor type is used. Every other operation parameter is measured or calculated directly.
We offer several interfaces (e.g. CAN, Ethernet, ...) to communicate with your automation system. Furthermore our system can work in mainly two opreation modes. The slave mode is similar to comparable systems where operation modes can be controlled by reference values for torque or current. The more powerful operation mode is our master mode. In this mode we are controlling the testbed by demanding DC-voltage and speed to run our characterization routine in the most efficient way.
The most common term of operation for the UPI-I is to operate a test machine at a testbed with a load machine that is speed controlled. Also a back2back-operation with two similar test machines and to UPI-Is is possible.
The UPI-E is typically conncetd to a test inverter that is fed with a galvanically isolated DC-voltage.
For the communication with your testbed environment we offer CAN and Ethernet.
Furthermore we offer several interfaces for common angle sensors.
If you want to extend your test capabilites with our systems, there are two ways to do so:
Customized software extensions can be deliverd "over the air" via download link.
Hardware extensions (emulator extension, eesm extension, ...) can also be purchased for a already running system.
It is our goal to run each machine at its physical limits (typically max torque for each speed). Therefore at a first step it is necessary to define the magnetic fluxes of the machine depending on the actual currents. With these informations we are performing different optimization algorithms to achieve the best control and operation paramters. With that knowledge we are able to gain a.o. efficiency maps and further informations.
If you want to integrate and run own software parts like current controllers or other functions we can offer you a free cut of our software. Therefor we will offer parts of our software in (MATLAB/Simulink) with defined interfaces and switches.
The standard results of out automatic characterization routines are a.o.:
The speed of our characterization routines strongly depends on the thermal behavior and the cooling system of your machine. If the machine is mainly operated below the continous power, the characterization will last around 1 or 2 hours. When the characterization is done for the peak power range and therefore longer cooling pauses are necessary, a typical duration is around half a day.
Only the machine type and the angle sensor type is necessary.
